Poor Posture in Student Athletes

For athletes to be able to perform they move and switch movements frequently. These athletes vary from different speeds and intensities quit often. In order for the athletes to maintain a quick movement they need to maintain their posture through out the duration of their event. Having good posture is where you are aware of holding yourself that does not but a strain on your back whenever you are doing a certain position or action.

 



Affect on performance

-being able to identify whether it is a injury due to prolonged training or bad posture

  • can affect your endurance capacity

  • Shoulder mechanics

  • Range of motion on the trunk


Preventive exercises

  • Hand stand press against the wall

  • bench extension

  • hanging leg raises

  • over head squats with stick

  • back extensions
